4 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes via Merzouga desert Description

4-day Sahara desert tour from Marrakech to Fes the atlas mouantains, Kasbahs and Oasis, and Merzouga camel trek for one night in desert.

Day1

Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ksar Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Gorges

One of our team members (Guide) will pick you from Marrakech in the morning the start the four-day desert tour to Fes traveling over the stunning Atlas, crossing the mountains through Tizi n’Tichka (alt 2260 m) and enjoying the view of the Berber villages. We will have some few stops on different panoramic views enjoying the impressive landscapes and we will visit an Argan oil cooperative (Optional). After those stops, we will continue driving to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou where we will have lunch at a local restaurant and the visit of UNESCO World Heritage site (Ait Ben Haddou). A lot of movies were shot on this old kasbah (Ex: The Gladiator, Mummy..etc). We will visit also Ouarzazate city and its famous studios before continuing to Dades passing through Skoura, Roses Valley. Dinner and overnight in a hotel/riad in Dades.

Day2

Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – El Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert (Camel ride & night in the camp)

After having shower and breakfast at the hotel in Dades, we will start our journey toward the desert, an unforgettable adventure is waiting for us in the dunes. On our way to the desert, we will pass by some Berber villages (Ex:Tinjdad, Mellaab, Jorf…etc.) before arriving in Erfoud which is the beginning of the Saharan desert. After few kilometers from Erfoud, we will start seeing some of the highest sand dunes of Merzouga. We will reach Merzouga after 1 hour driving from Erfoud, in Merzouga, you will have a cup of mint tea then we will start crossing the dunes by camels on a desert adventure. After 1 hour and 30 minutes on camels, we will stop and walk to the highest dune near the camp to watch the sunset and sand boarding in dunes before continuing to the desert camp where we will have dinner and the Berber music. After dinner and music it’s possible to walk outside in dunes to watch million of stars on a clear desert sky.

Day3

Merzouga – Berber Villages – Nomad Families – Black Desert – Desert Mountains – Merzouga

We will wake you up early in the morning to watch the sunrise in the dunes and then come back to Merzouga by camels, you will have breakfast and shower at our desert hotel before starting our day in the desert. Today we will drive around the desert to discover undiscovered places in Erg Chebbi desert, we will visit nomad families a tiny Berber villages (Ex:Merdani , Khamlia , Mifis ). On our way to the desert villages, we may meet some locals with different desert animals (Ex: Goats, Camels, Desert foxes….etc.) also some desert reptiles and mammals. Our first stop will be in some mountains near the dunes for a panoramic view of the sand dunes and also from there you can start seeing the border between Morocco and Algeria. We will continue driving toward old Berber villages and some nomad families where we will be hospitably welcomed with a cup of mint tea while enjoying the silence of the desert . We will continue driving to another Berber family where we will have lunch (Berber Nomad Pizza) under the tent or on a shadow of a desert tree. After lunch, we will continue to visit Khamlia, mins of fossils and Yasmina lake (If there is water) before driving back to Merzouga. Walk in dunes for the sunset, dinner and night in a hotel near the sand dunes.

Day4

Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes

We will start the last day of the tour after showering and the breakfest at the hotel. We will start driving to Fes crossing the middle Atlas mountains, stoping in Ziz Valley for panoramic pictures and then we will continue to Fes passing by Medilt, cedar forest with monkey in Azrou, Ifrane and we will arrive in Fes in evening or at night.
